Biomedical Care
Biomedical support can immensely help children with complex challenges to thrive. Conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and other neurodevelopment concerns come with multiple unique gifts, and can also come with multiple unique health challenges. We address each child and family's needs with comprehensive and individualized care, through consultations, functional health testing and individualized test results interpretation and recommendation reports.
Biomedical support targets your child's health obstacles to help them learn, develop and thrive as best as possible throughout their lives.Trusted by families for over a decade, NeuroKids employs the WHOLE CHILD, WHOLE FAMILY approach to care. Often treatment for the child with a diagnosis is overwhelming for a family. We work to provide you with clear and thorough guidelines, as well as allow you to proceed at you and your family's unique pace. Often parents find that they can also benefit from the testing provided, as well as from health and care recommendations provided for their child. Biomedical treatment can help address the WHOLE CHILD and the WHOLE FAMILY's needs.
Biomedical support allows us to look at a child's unique biochemistry and determine what may be impacting brain development, learning, language, social skills, self-regulation, mood, sleep, digestion and more.

Neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioral concerns often come with labels and their causes are multifaceted, and share overlapping factors with chronic illness. These are an interplay of genetic factors with the environment, internal and external. For this reason, functional research on treatment of the health challenges that can come with Autism Spectrum Disorder is a good model for treating an array of neurodevelopment concerns, as well as neurological and autoimmune disorders.

Research into the role of environmental changes in the last century, show that our children with special needs may have difficulties detoxing the bi-products of our modern world. Key nutritional deficiencies like B vitamins, essential fatty acids, carnitine and glutathione supportive nutrients have been identified to play a role in symptoms, to name a few.

WHOLE BODY BURDEN

Common Nutrient Deficiencies
Magnesium, calcium, zinc, selenium, iron, lithium Vitamin B6, B12, folate, B1, B2, B3, biotin
Vitamin D and A Vitamin C Omega 3 fatty acidsAmino acids: glutathione, cysteine, l-carnitine, taurine, and glycine
Functional Laboratory Testing
-
Urine - organic Acids, peptides, cortisol, hormones, toxins, nutrient deficiencies
-
Blood – food sensitivities, nutrient deficiencies, disease / inflammatory markers
-
Stool - Infection or infestations, imbalance, yeast, parasites, malabsorption

Saliva - cortisol, hormones, genetics

What Does Treatment and Assessment Look Like?
-
Assessment of mitochondrial function
-
Assessing thyroid function
-
Addressing possible gut hyper permeability
-
Organic acids testing, looking at metabolites of overgrowth in the gut, indications of mitochondrial dysfunction, nutrient deficiencies, neurotransmitter imbalances, etc.
-
Assessing the role of environmental toxins such as testing for heavymetal accumulation and mineral imbalances Stool testing to assess for dysbiosis and overgrowth
-
Assessment and treatment of nutritional deficiencies that exacerbate symptoms such as tics, aggression, seizures, delayed language, etc.
-
Assessing the role of candida, heavy metal accumulation and parasitic overgrowth
-
Assessing the role of food allergens, and other sensitivities like oxalates, phenols and salicylates and possible food sensitivity testing Implementing specialized diets such as GFCF (gluten free, cassein free), SCD, GAPS, Low Oxalate Diet, Low FODMAPS Diet, Ketogenic Diet, etc. Working to decrease whole body burden from toxins, such as pesticides, plastics, flame retardants, heavy metals, etc.
