Behaviour & Parent Coaching
Supporting behaviour through understanding, regulation, and relationship

Behaviour is communication. When a child is struggling with behaviour, it’s often a sign that something beneath the surface feels overwhelming, dysregulating, or hard to manage — not that the child (or parent) is doing something wrong.
Our behaviour and parent coaching support is designed to help families better understand what their child’s behaviour may be communicating, and to build practical, compassionate strategies that support regulation, connection, and daily life.

When families seek behaviour support

Families often reach out for support with concerns such as:
-
Big emotional reactions, meltdowns, or shutdowns
-
Difficulty with transitions, routines, or flexibility
-
Aggression, avoidance, or oppositional behaviour
-
Challenges at school or during learning
-
Parent burnout, uncertainty, or feeling “stuck”
-
Wanting support that feels aligned, respectful, and realistic
We work with families of neurodivergent children, including autistic and ADHD children, with an emphasis on understanding behaviour in context.

Our approach to behaviour and parent coaching

We don’t view behaviour in isolation. Instead, we look at how a child’s nervous system, environment, sensory experiences, developmental stage, and emotional capacity all interact.
Our behaviour support focuses on:
-
Understanding the why behind behaviour
-
Supporting nervous system regulation and safety
-
Strengthening connection and predictability
-
Building skills over time, rather than enforcing compliance
-
Supporting parents with clear, practical guidance
Coaching is collaborative and individualized. Strategies are adapted to your child’s needs and your family’s values — not pulled from a one-size-fits-all approach.

What behaviour and parent coaching may include

Support may involve:
-
Helping parents interpret behaviour through a regulation-informed lens
-
Identifying patterns, triggers, and unmet needs
-
Developing supportive routines and transitions
-
Coaching parents through challenging moments
-
Aligning expectations with developmental capacity
-
Supporting school-related challenges or advocacy conversations
-
Building confidence and reducing parent stress
Our goal is not to “fix” behaviour, but to support change in a way that feels sustainable and respectful for everyone involved.

How behaviour coaching fits within integrative care

Behaviour is often influenced by factors beyond parenting strategies alone. For some children, emotional regulation, sensory needs, nutrition, sleep, or underlying physiological stressors can play a role.
When appropriate, behaviour support may be coordinated with other areas of care, such as counselling, nutrition, or biomedical support, to ensure families are receiving well-rounded, aligned guidance.
You don’t need to navigate these connections on your own — our team works collaboratively when multiple supports are involved.
